Discover France as it used to be...

If you’re fed up with the over developed trail around the Dordogne (La Nouvelle Angleterre, as we’ve heard it referred to here!), then Lower Gascony is the place for you. It has all the beauty, charm and mystery of any region of France, perhaps even more so as it lies at the feet of the breathtaking Pyrenees; but without the madding crowds of either English or French.

If you love France because it’s France, then you’ll love it here. It is very French still and there has been little tourism until recently. The flavour is a fascinating mix of Gascon with a bit of Basque and the mountains thrown in.

Lassere offers you a fabulous base to explore the Pyrenees, the Gers and even Spain. There is also the Madihran wine country to explore (a locally kept secret not usually heard of further a field) and a huge amount of natural landscapes and activities to enjoy

Gascony is food country and it is quite rightly famed throughout France and the rest of the world for the quality of its raw ingredients and its signature dishes such as foie gras, confit de canard, haricots tarbais, porc noir de gascogne, brebis des Pyrenees. Here, it’s all about terroir and real produce – the tomatoes don’t all look the same and the food tastes like..well food actually.

We challenge you not to enjoy the gastronomic delights that can be had, whether by buying local delicacies from our approved local suppliers or by simply throwing the best bit of steak you’ll have tasted in a while onto the BBQ!

Failing that, the weather’s great for most of the year so if nothing else, we can offer somewhere peaceful and secluded in which to chill out, dip your toes in the pool and enjoy to excess your beverage or food of choice!
Lassere, the ‘sheltered place’, is a former farm consisting of a few large buildings including the main house in which we live. The gite is a converted C19th building that retains many of the original features including timber frames and beams and stone ‘galet’ walls. We are set in 40 acres of private woodlands and meadows, which are completely at your disposal other than the odd intrusion of Monsieur Rodget’s sheep!

We are in the commune of BAZORDAN, which is just off the D24, between Lannemezan and Boulogne-sur-Gesse. Both Pau and Toulouse airports are an hour away, and Carcassonne is 2 hours away if need be. All of the main airports have daily flights through the economy carriers and all have great car rental facilities (probably the best, least tiring and cheapest way to come in our opinion)
